Our Process

1

Assessment

Unique to the McKenzie Method is a process that begins with a thorough history and testing to identify distinct patterns of pain responses that are: reproducible, objective, reliable, and reflect the characteristics of the underlying pain generator. The most common and meaningful pattern of pain response is Centralization, which is defined as a patient’s referred or radiating pain promptly reversing, returning to the center of the spine , and then usually abolishing.

2

Treatment

When appropriate, a series of individual exercises are prescribed based on the individuals Directional Preference that will centralize or abolish pain.

3

Prevention

Most patients who do respond favorably to MDT can successfully treat themselves – and minimize the number of visits to the clinic- when provided with the necessary knowledge and tools putting them in control of their treatment safely and effectively. In my free time you can find me out on my Stand Up Paddleboard.

Our clients are Happy & Healthy

"I had an excellent experience at Bridge. I was diagnosed nearly a year ago with post concussion syndrome (PCS), I tried a number of different treatments over many months, few seemed to help at all. I was eventually told by a sports concussion specialist to find a neck specialist to see if neck issues were contributing to my symptoms. I'm not nearly fully recovered but I can say for sure that my work at Bridge has contributed more than anything to my recovery. A huge thank you to Bob and Maggie! I can confidently recommend them for improving your neck/ cervical spine health (and consequently reducing symptoms of PCS), they're likely the best in town."

"I didn’t think I would need orthotics for myself but after wearing them for a while now, I can’t imagine not having them! I don’t feel as fatigued at the end of the day and I don’t complain anymore about my feet hurting. Thank you!"

SV

I am glad I found Bob Jacobsen years ago when I had an old work injury that likes to flare up. The non-invasive cold laser treatments, exercises & stretches work wonders. Bridge Physio is my go to clinic when I need a tune up or another injury flares up. I recently started wearing orthotics, which have helped immensely. Maggie Jacobsen provided state of the art gait analysis and the ordering of my orthotics. Highly recommend Bridge Physio!

"After meeting with Maggie who assessed my feet I became more hopeful that this would indeed help. What I recognized after having the orthotics for only a short period was how life altering it was. The pain was reduced to the point where I was able to just about resume previous activity levels. By wearing my orthotics continually for the first two months the pain was gone. … Now, just about four months later, I am again walking long distances with no painful after effects. Thanks Maggie!"

No. A doctor’s referral is not required to see a physical therapist in British Columbia. However we want to work closely with your doctor and will refer you for medical assessment if your condition falls outside our scope of practice or is not responding in a reasonable time.

Even though this is a common question, there isn’t a single answer. Each plan varies. Some may require a Doctor’s referral or have other specific requirements, so it’s important that you get the details from your provider. Generally it is common for plans to cover $300 – $500 annually.
